Granville Island is a famous attraction and a must see if you are wanting a day trip in Vancouver, B.C.  It is located in the False Creek area which is on the south side and below the Granville Street Bridge heading into downtown. You can take a bus there from anywhere or drive as there is ample parking. 10 Ways To Not Gain Weight On Your Cruise

I set out on my first cruise ever with the best intentions - I would eat healthy, forgo desserts and hardly drink any alcohol. Yeah.....right! Once I realized the sheer amount of (free!) food available to me, all those resolutions went right out the window! So I gave myself permission to eat what I wanted but added these ten tweaks to my daily schedule. I was amazed that I came back without gaining a pound1 (and my butt was the most toned it has ever been:) Here is what I did: 1) Take the Stairs As soon as we got on board, my boyfriend and I committed to only take the stairs instead of the elevator. Since our room was on the third deck and the restaurants and everything else on floors 5-8, we figured that with at least five trips up and down a day, we were averaging about 1000 stairs a day! (Hence the toned butt:) 2) Use the Gym On our seven day cruise, three of those days were spent out at sea leaving us with lots of free time.  I don't usually go to a gym to w

How to Travel with Ear Problems

The Problem For the past six weeks, I've had a really irritating problem. I literally woke up one morning with both my ears completely blocked! I didn't have a cold or allergies - I have no idea what caused it, but every day I feel the crackling and plugged feeling without being able to pop them. Flashforward to this week - I had a trip booked to Las Vegas and was terrified that my plane ride would, at least, cause discomfort during  my flight and at the worst, cause permanent damage to my ears  afterwards (I might have spent several hours online researching ear travel horror stories...). But, in my research, I found several solutions that claimed to solve the problem of pressure related ear issues while travelling on a plane. The Solutions 1) ear plugs - the kind specifically made for air travel. They look like they screw into your ears. These are supposed to equalize the air pressure as you fly. You put them in your ears as soon as the cabin door closes and keep in

Two Days in Seattle

Although I have been to Seattle several times before, given it's close proximity to my hometown Vancouver B.C., I recently spent a weekend there to attend my first football game. (Go Seahawks!) Walk along Seattle Waterfront We drove up from Vancouver (2.5 hours) and arrived at The Edgewater Hotel , a cozy, eco-chic, waterfront hotel, apparently the only one in Seattle. We were an hour early for check-in, so we walked up to Pike Place Market, a fifteen-minute walk along the waterfront, from the hotel. Pike Place Market was very busy, given it was a Saturday. The lines of tables featuring artisans, home-made beauty and health products, gourmet foods, meats, fish and produce,  were difficult to stop at because of the crowds. Without buying anything, we headed back to the hotel. Cute Room at The Edgewater Hotel with fireplace and fuzzy ottoman We were disappointed that despite being later than the 4 pm check-in, our room still wasn't ready. The management remedied
